Play. Learn. Grow.

Our Areas
The Learning Tree at St Philips School

Little Explorers

Our Little Explorers site supports your child in preparing for BIG school. A stimulating learning environment covering all areas of learning whilst encouraging your child to learn, develop and grow at their own pace. In this room your child is surrounded by opportunities  to build academically, socially and independently. Here children lead their own learning through play, the children will explore, experiment and question their surroundings naturally. Our highly experienced and qualified staff practice will observe the children and expand the learning of each and every child. We also understand that children need support from adults to extend their skills and knowledge, therefore we offer adult initiated activities which provide the children with new concepts, through familiar play.

Undercroft & Garden

We believe children should explore the outside environment whatever the whether, and the undercroft allows exactly that. Our outside environments are a crucial part of your child’s development when it comes to understanding the world.

Forest

A forest on site, how lucky are we! This area is a fantastic place for children to explore, imagine and investigate. From Gruffalo hunts to building houses of out sticks, your little one will have plenty of adventures to share with you at the end of the day.

The Little Acorns Room

Little Acorns is a room full of love, nurture and sensory opportunities. Here the staff endeavour to continue the patterns of care you have already established at home. We have a separate sleep room where our babies can relax and sleep soundly whilst being monitored regularly. We understand the importance of having a smooth transition from being at home with you – to coming to nursery so aim to support both you and your baby in every way. During the day the babies will experience lots of tactile and messy activities to engage all their senses. Whether it be full body painting to singing and rhymes, your baby will have access to planned activities as well free flow access to our lovely toys, comfy snuggly areas and natural resources.

The Bluebell Room

In The Bluebell room we recognise that toddlers learn from the people around them and how they are attended to, the environment that they are in and the opportunities it provides. The keyperson system is a crucial part of each child's learning environment. By providing a warm, loving relationship they are a secure base from which the child explores with confidence. They will gather information from you on your child's needs, likes and dislikes, developmental stage and interests to support each child in developing and reaching their full potential through a variety of adult and child led activities .

The Willow Room

The Willow Room staff support and celebrate each new goal achieved, from potty training to learning to put on their own coats for the first time, every small step is shared with you whether it be at the end of day handover with your Keyperson, or on our online Learning Journals (Tapestry). The children have access to a large bright airy room with a physical area, role play area, cosy Book corner and various activity mats and tables. Our Willow room supports your child’s new sense of independence, from choosing and serving their own breakfast to making independent choices on the equipment and resources they access.

Outside Area

We believe children should explore the outside environment whatever the whether, and the undercroft allows exactly that. Our outside environments are a crucial part of your child’s development when it comes to understanding the world.

"All our children have loved their time at The Learning Tree. The love and professionalism provided by all the staff has been absolutely amazing.  I can honestly say I have never found any fault with the care and dedication of all the staff.  We feel extremely lucky that our children have been part of The Learning tree family for the last 6 years."
