About Us
Play. Learn. Grow.

Philosophy
At The Learning Tree Preschool we understand how important the first 5 years of a child’s life are and it is our aim to ensure we provide a warm, homely, stimulating environment to allow each child to feel safe, happy, secure and loved whilst being supported in growing and developing at their own pace.
Throughout the sessions we ensure that all children’s individualism is respected and valued as well as ensuring that their self-esteem is nurtured. We believe this leads to the development of confident, self-assured, independent young people. We understand that each child will have different ideas, opinions and beliefs and that each child will develop at different rates, that is why we plan for each child individually as well as bringing these ideas together as a group to explore.
We strive to provide a learning environment that allows children to learn through first hand experiences. We provide a mixture of child-led and adult-led activities throughout the session, creating an active learning approach where the children have the opportunities to make choices, set their own goals, choose resources and activities and engage with their peers. Staff will encourage children’s development, reflections, intentions, creativity and problem solving by forming strong relationships with the children and by following the children’s interests and ideas.
At The Learning Tree we follow The Early Years Foundation Stage framework which supports children's development in their earliest years. By completing a learning journal and regular‘Next Steps’ for each child it allows us to support and plan for the children individually. The framework identifies that play under pins all development and learning for young children. Most children play spontaneously. It is through play that they develop intellectually, creatively, physically, socially and emotionally. By giving attention to and building on their existing skills is the starting point for providing each child with the
opportunities to reach their full potential.
‘A Unique Child’ allows us to recognise that every child is a competent learner from birth who can be resilient, capable, confident and self-assured.
‘Positive Relationships’ allows us to understand how children learn to be strong and independent from a base of loving and secure relationships with parents and a key person.
‘Enabling Environments’ plays a key role in supporting and extending children's social development and learning within their environment. This is focused on observation, assessment and planning as well as the learning environment. ‘Learning and Development’ supports us in recognising that children develop and learn in different ways and at different rates and that all areas of learning and development are equally important and inter-connected.

Health & Safety
Your child’s safety is paramount to us and that is why all equipment and resources are
specifically designed and selected to meet the highest safety standards as well as
appropriate to the ages and stages of the children. We ensure that every member of staff is
first aid trained and has completed relevant child protection training.
We want to ensure that all the children in our care are happy throughout the session as we
believe happy children make confident learners. All of our staff at The Learning Tree have
been carefully selected due to their loving and caring nature and their warmth towards
children. The staff all understand that the way we talk to, praise, encourage and support
children has a big influence on their learning and development as well as their self-esteem.
